Sutherland Overtime – Stephen Sutherland wins in overtime over Washington University and Lee

Randolph-Macon College’s Stephen Sutherland scored a career-high 22 points in the impressive basketball game against Washington Lee University, helping his team win in overtime. He made 6 of 8 points on shots, 5 of 7 three-pointers and 5 of 6 free throws. Sutherland Overtime’s victory was not easy; in fact, it was very difficult to win and also exciting. Sutherland’s overtime score was the highest; he scored a total of 6 points of Randolph-Macon’s 12 points in overtime and led his team to the win.

Initially, the team of Washington and Lee (Generals) led most of the time. In the first half, with 4:33 remaining in the period, the Generals were up by 11 points. The team was at 29-18, but Randolph’s team perked up and put in a spectacular 12 runs and took the lead, going to 30-29. When the time came to half time, the Generals again went ahead. They got to 33, while Randolph’s team with 31 points trailed behind.

After the break, the game took an exciting turn again. Randolph’s team got off to a great start, team player Adam Krovic showed great play and helped the team get to 33-33. But Washington and Lee Team took the lead again with 6 points twice. Randolph’s team scrambled and Sutherland’s 3-pointer helped them pull up 43-43.

The climax of the match was the most interesting. With 3:26 remaining; Randolph Macon’s team committed two fouls and got to 52-51. But again, Randolph’s team showed a great team effort; Chris Halkitis’s three-pointer helped the team score 3 points. The score reached 59-59 and sent the game into overtime.

For most of the overtime period, Randolph Macon’s team stayed ahead of the Generals. Sutherland’s overtime score was 6 of the total 12 points scored by Randolph’s team during overtime. Sutherland’s overtime score helped Randolph’s team win the match. Sutherland’s 6 overtime points got Randolph’s team to the score of 71, and the Generals held at 67. Sutherland’s team beat Washington and Lee University in overtime with 71-67 points.
