How long does it take to make paper quilling?

Surprisingly, it doesn’t take long to make beautiful feather creations once you learn the basic shapes. However, you can certainly spend hours on larger, more intricate designs if you choose. Large feather patterns are often stand-alone works of art and can be framed for display. Most of the designs you’ll probably make when you’re quilling will be smaller items to embellish other crafts you’re making, so rest assured you don’t need to take all day just to make a few quilled flowers; although your friends might think so! The best thing about quilling is that it looks so much more difficult than it really is!

Quilling paper is a lot of fun and a great way to get creative with the basic coils and scrolls you will learn to make. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the works of art you can create with just a few different types of quilled pieces. Just remember to have some patience (especially as a beginning bowler) since you’re working with small tools and small pieces of paper. Each small coil or scroll will only be a small portion of the overall design. Remember to have fun and make your designs as detailed and intricate as you like. Take the time to trial and error as you learn and you’ll soon be amazed at how quickly you can make some really cool quilled designs.

More advanced bowlers can spend hours and days or even weeks to create a very complicated layout. Some are even three dimensional, which is really cool, but of course it takes a bit longer to get that detailed and intricate.

If you’re ready to learn the art of quilling so you can start adding new paper designs to many of your craft projects, I’d love to teach you this great paper craft.
