Description of a Second Life museum

Everything in Second Life is art. It may not be the most attractive art, but it is art all the same. Second Life is a virtual world, which is made up of residents who do whatever they want in Second Life to improve their environment. Some art in Second Life stands out and years to be recognized and enjoyed. Elven Enchantment is a new museum and the building itself is beautiful and heavy primitive. (Primitives are the building blocks of our world, we call them prims.) The art that hangs within its walls is incredibly beautiful and intriguing.

Arriving at the museum, the visitor is attracted by the beautiful gardens, tinkling fountains, ponds and benches. To preserve the beauty of the Gardens, glass floors were placed on the First, Second and Third Levels. In each of the levels of the Museum, above, the gardens have a characteristic element and in the First Level there are two different elements that cannot be missed, the First Level Element has ceramics, ancient vases and a wolf fountain. The second attraction is the large windows that overlook the Grove. Moving statues, trees and rainbows can be seen from this point in the Museum.

On the second level are Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Michelangelo, Rubens, and Da Vinci, all real-life masters whose incredible work can be seen on huge canvases displayed on this level. The central element is a scripted construction of eight primaries that is a fairy tale castle that goes from morning to night from small towns to a big city and fireworks at night.

The final element separates the Magic Revealed and the Art Gallery is an aquarium. The aquarium measures 10 meters by 10 meters by 10 meters. The entire build was a challenge. First of all, the shape of the aquarium had to fit into the space provided for the central floor elements. The next challenge was to reshape the whirlpool water to look convincingly like seawater, since the aquarium is a saltwater aquarium.

The shark I bought was too big for the space I provided so I had to ask the creator to shrink it down to fit within the confines of my aquarium. Finally, the “steel” bands were put into place and the glass was placed on top of the water; however, the water did not enter the aquarium. All the work had to be disassembled so that the water element could be repaired and once corrected the glass had to be reassembled and the entire construction sealed.

As the newest museum in Second Life, it was built to compete with other museums and the creator of the building had not seen the other museums. The vision for the museum and its grounds was to make the site a tribute to the artistic beauty of Second Life, providing an atmosphere of peace, beauty and romance, and enhancing the viewing experience of the art within its walls.

Only a visitor to the Museum can judge whether this vision has been fulfilled.
