CLEEN Foundation Officials Visit Nigerian Police Chief And Raise Issues On Sexually Based Violence

The CLEEN Foundation, a non-governmental organization, based in Abuja, the Nigerian capital, with national outreach, has raised issues bordering on sexual-based violence, police trust fund law, insecurity and effective monitoring of the effective implementation of the Administration. of the Criminal Justice Act 2015 of the Nigerian Police.

Olugbuo raised relevant issues related to the Nigerian Police Trust Fund Act; growing and perceived insecurity in Nigeria; electoral security management and prosecution of electoral offenders; the Nigerian Police and the effective implementation of the Criminal Justice Administration Act 2015; police response to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in different parts of Nigeria; police operations to prevent and counter violent extremism, and the new community policing regime in Nigeria, among other topics.

In this note, the Executive Director of the CLEEN Foundation hinted to the Inspector General of Police that the CLEEN Foundation will hold a National Workshop in Abuja on September 4-5, 2019 to discuss the Police Budget and implementation of the Trust Fund.

The Foundation’s Executive Director informed the IGP that the meeting will bring together relevant stakeholders to dialogue and present a sustainable framework for the management and utilization of the Police Trust Fund in Nigeria.

Taking into account the recent security developments in the country, the CLEEN Foundation also notified the Inspector General of Police about the Public Safety and Security Dialogue Series that will take place in the last quarter of the year with a focus on inter-institutional collaboration and synergy between security agents. agencies in Nigeria.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation from the Inspector General of Police that the Nigerian Police Force will continue to partner with the CLEEN Foundation and other non-profit organizations on broader issues of public security in Nigeria.
