The classic hypnosis bubble to use in hypnotherapy or self-hypnosis sessions

I think we would all agree that it is a truly wonderful feeling to feel secure in one’s body and in one’s life.

Many people in a wide variety of walks of life benefit from the kinds of things I write about today. What I mean is that it is not exclusively the territory of someone who is in therapy, for example. This type of process seeks to build safe boundaries and improve decision making. It lends itself wonderfully well to these things and is therefore a great way for a hypnotherapist to start sessions with a client, for example.

However, it can be adapted to suit a wide variety of problems and has a number of applications.

In my experience and evident in the work of most trainers I have worked with, and through my studies over the years, many clients respond better to therapeutic intervention when they feel safe and in control. Many myths surrounding the field of hypnosis and hypnotherapy tend to inhibit this if the client is not educated about the hypnotic process then this can negatively affect the results you hope to achieve with a client. Heck, this article is not about building trust and rapport et al. You can read about that in abundance elsewhere on this website, as well as elsewhere.

This type of process helps the client feel secure in life and within the therapeutic environment.

The type of process I offer today is adapted from DP Brown (1992) as cited in Fundamentals of clinical hypnosis by Steven Jay Lynn and Irving Kirsch (2006, pp69-70). It is adapted here for use with self-hypnosis, although for the most part it is used by myself and many other hypnotherapists in sessions with clients.

Steps to benefit from the hypnotic bubble

Step one: Induce hypnosis. Mesmerize yourself with any medium you know or have been taught and choose any medium you prefer.

Second step: Begin to think about what it means to you to feel safe, secure, and in control.

Now activate your imagination and imagine that you are in a bubble where you feel protected and in control.

Begin to notice and feel the qualities of the bubble that you are creating around you. So look at the colors; perhaps favorite colors, or colors that you associate with safety and security. Maybe the colors are iridescent, maybe the bubble is translucent.

become aware of the touch of the bubble when you reach out, how it feels on your skin if you touch it, notice the sound it makes if you touch it and use your imagination in the best way for you and create the bubble that it is. with which you feel most comfortable and that you find most attractive.

Step three: Create the bubble wrap. Is it like a second skin and fits you perfectly, or is it like a big bubble that you can move around in? Is there a usual feeling of gravity within it, or do you float weightlessly? Choose what makes you feel more at ease, comfortable and free. Let your sense of security improve. Once you’ve created this bubble with your own design and choice, you can afford to move on to the next step, but be sure to spend as much time as necessary for this step.

Step four: At this stage, remember and impress yourself with the idea that this is your bubble. You created it. It is his safe place and you are in control of him in every way.

Now take full control and show yourself that you are in full control of this bubble.

Please note that if you use your imagination correctly, you can start to make the bubble move and mobile. Notice that as you think about it getting lighter, you can start to move up the bubble. Then you can start to feel like you are getting lighter and moving up. Sometimes you may like to enjoy the altered perspective of wherever you are, from above.

Of course, the bubble can also move down and you can practice moving it down again now.

Let it move left and right under your command, your thoughts and your imagination, enjoy controlling the bubble. You might even start to take control of the bubble qualities in more depth. You may want to change the color, change the texture, or the material it’s made of. You can change the thickness of the bubble and the ability to see clearly or not. Take some time to practice making changes and movements with the bubble and when you feel that you have complete control of it, move on to the next step.

step five: With this enhanced level of security and control comes the option to let people in or not. You choose and control if someone enters or not.

You make all the decisions regarding this bubble. You can use the bubble to improve the closeness you have with people when you let them in, or you can use it to protect yourself and stay away from them.

The bubble allows you to share any feeling with others if you choose to while in the bubble. Or, of course, you can protect and keep your feelings inside the safety of the bubble. Again, you are the one to decide on that.

Meditate and think for a few moments at this stage about how wonderful it feels to be in control and how liberating it is to know that you make all the decisions for yourself. As he does so, imagine and feel your own security deepening.

step six: While you’re here, you can now spend some time working on relaxing and engaging in any progressive relaxation methods you know of, so that you can associate that relaxed feeling with this bubble every time you come back here and experience it.

Just float and enjoy this protective place and enjoy the safety and control that you have here. take the time you need to relax in this safe environment. When you’ve had enough fun and felt a tangible difference, move on to the next step.

step six: As you continue to imagine this growing sense of control and increase your own awareness of your own decision-making power, you notice the distance of the bubble boundary around you even more explicitly.

Please note how flexible this is and that you can shorten or extend that limit as and when you like. Let it be your control of your own limit.

Start imagining how you are going to use this when you are out in the world. Begin to imagine how you are going to allow yourself to control the limit, to keep yourself safe, and how you will make decisions about expanding those limits of your safety as you move forward in your life.

You notice how it improves your ability to make decisions in your life and how it allows you to feel safe and more comfortable in the world. Every day you learn more about what it takes to feel more and more confident about who you let in and how you choose to live life with a healthy and proper growing sense of security in your own skin.

The more you practice using the bubble, the more it will work for you even when you’re not thinking about it, working for you and keeping you safe and improving the way you make decisions.

step seven: You can come back here whenever you want. Tell yourself that every time you come here and run this process, it works even better and the benefits increase.

Then she comes out of hypnosis by counting, wiggling her fingers and toes, and goes about her day feeling better and letting the feelings continue to be felt.

It’s a truly wonderful feeling to feel safe and secure using your own mind, I hope you enjoy that feeling too.
