How to get more out of video marketing by avoiding two common challenges

Are you currently recording videos on a daily basis to share with your prospects? Are you uploading videos that pique interest on YouTube, Facebook, and other video sites? Has the fear of what to say or do in a video keep you from doing it regularly?

Video marketing is one of the most powerful marketing tools available to business owners and entrepreneurs. Many still avoid video due to common fears they perceive. They think it will be too expensive or take too long. Tragically, many people start making videos and then give up because they feel like it “doesn’t work.” What if you could spend just 7 minutes a day putting video to work for your company? Would it be worth 7 minutes of your time each day to get another client?

As you look to put video marketing into action for your business, there will be challenges. You probably won’t face the technology challenges you create, but as you begin your marketing efforts, you will likely run into the following two challenges:

  1. Video length – Most people record videos that are too short or too long. Unless you go big with a crazy video (like a cat on an iPad), you won’t be able to get someone’s attention for 5 minutes. Recording videos in the duration of 90 seconds to 3 minutes will give you the maximum opportunity to hold people’s attention. Once you have their attention, you will have the opportunity to add value and make a call to action.
  2. Call to action – Video marketing is exciting. It is so exciting and exciting that many business owners get carried away. They try to do too much in 1 video. Make it easy for your potential customer and give them just one way to act on your video. That could be visiting a website, calling them, emailing them, or even faxing them – just make it obvious what you want them to do.

When you can overcome your fear of video marketing, you will be able to reach a whole new customer segment. Videos have a long lifespan and allow people to learn at their own pace. When you put on videos that spark interest, have optimal length, and have an easy call-to-action, you’ll start generating more business with video today.
