Now, the most important reasons why dog ​​houses do not have windows. They just don’t do as good a job of keeping heat in as a solid insulated wall. Also, during the summer they let in too much heat and the house will no longer stay as cool as you would like. There are a few things you can do to help with this, particularly the location of the dog house in your yard. You can place it near a fence, near your house, or under a large tree. This will also help.

Of course, you can use your dog’s door as a window for your dog’s house. These clear plastic gates will help keep the elements out and give your dog a place to look out if he so chooses. If you are building your own house for your dog, I recommend that you build an insulated dog house that is easy to clean. It would have the roof or one of the walls open so that you can easily clean your dog’s house from time to time. You may also want to invest in a den bed during the winter months or add a heater to keep your dog warm enough.
