College Football Predictions 2010 UAB Blazers

The UAB Blazers began the 2010 Football Picks season with a 32-31 home loss to the Florida Atlantic Owls of the Sun Belt conference. The Blazers showed how much they all miss quarterback Joe Webb. New quarterback David Isabelle was less than effective in his first start under center throwing the ball, he only had 79 passing yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Isabelle showed the coaches what he can do with his legs, as he rushed for 214 yards and a 50-yard run to set up a potential game-winning field goal. The UAB coaching staff has something to build from the game. Offensive tackle Matt McCants led the way for successful rushing, McCants will be an All American and has NFL potential. This sports forecaster thinks UAB should run after the massive tackle most of the time in 2010. The guy dominated the opposition and should lead a high-powered offense in 2010. David Isabelle should get the ball to tight end Jeffery Anderson, who has a world of talent. As the US conference kicks off, UAB should be able to iron out some weaknesses. Florida Atlantic was a winnable football game, the rest of the schedule features a tough conference SEC contest in Tennessee on September 25 and Mississippi State on October 23.

The defense of the UAB in 2010 is similar to that of 2009, terrible. Against Florida Atlantic last season, the worst pass defense seemed even more friendly to opposing offensive coordinators. Florida Atlantic quarterback Jeff VanCamp threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns in the game. Transfers from highly regarded junior colleges in the high school looked a bit lost in their first game. Cornerback TJ Ballou and safety Jamie Bender will improve, but it may take longer than the coaching staff expected. Defensive tackle Eliott Henigan looked strong against the run, but couldn’t get to the Florida Atlantic Owls’ quarterback. This area should improve as the season progresses. The UAB Blazers will finish the 2010 college football season with a 4-8 record.
