Every year, Madden tries harder and harder to keep us from figuring out how to catch rockets. Well, he’s back this year, and if you’re one of the few who still doesn’t know exactly how to do it, today is your lucky day.

Basically, the only way to perform the rocket catch animation is by doing tilts to the outside of the field.

When your player is about 20-25 yards down the field:

• Throw a bullet pass with the advantage of the pass down and out.
• Click on the WR
• Hold and in with just the right analog stick to flip it over and get the animation.

Note that I am playing on the PS3, where the left trigger is not passed. If you’re playing on the Xbox 360, you can still catch rockets by launching an upward bullet pass while holding down the left trigger.

Rocket Catch is a great weapon to have in your arsenal. Rocket Catching is especially useful against players who like to sit in cover all day. Especially great when you have a tall receiver with good hands. Even when shooting against a preemptive defense, you can still go down with the ball against 4 defenders if you do it correctly.

Learning to catch rockets will put you in a league of your own because defense will be at a huge disadvantage. Even when a play is broken, you will still have the opportunity to create big plays on the field.
