All About Solar Christmas Lights

When Christmas comes, we take out the decorations and put up the tree. This is a very fun month and we love to see our children’s faces light up when they look at the different lights hanging all over the inside and outside of the house. The only downside to this is that the monthly bills are huge!

At least they could be. The best way to combat these huge Christmas bills is to use solar Christmas lights. These look like the ones we always use and are a bit more expensive. In the end, though, you’ll save money by not paying $100 or more on your electric bill that month. Actually, in recent years, if you look around and look for deals, solar based Christmas lights can be priced the same as typical LED based Christmas lights or even lower. It depends on the store and the brand you buy, of course.

When looking for the right solar Christmas lights, you should compare the different average lighting times that each one has. Most will be able to stay on for seven to eight hours. However, you may find some that can last up to fifteen hours. It is safe to say that the more lighting time they have, the more expensive they will be.

There are two types of Christmas lights; constant and flashing. Decide for yourself which one you would like to use outside your home. If you want to change it sometimes, buy the type that will let you choose between the two. Just make sure the switch for this is easily accessible.

During the winter you are going to have some days where the clouds are out and snow or rain is falling (depending on where you live). This will prevent sunlight from charging the lights and you will have to rely on batteries. It is easier to get lights that use rechargeable batteries. This will prevent you from having to buy a lot of them.

The price of these is going to be much more than electric lights. For $4 you can get a hundred or more string lights that are powered by electricity. However, you’ll need to spend anywhere from $15 to $60 for a set of two hundred solar-powered lights.
