YLC-6M Radar System Part I

In future warfare, rapid transfer of forces and highly mobile operation will be commonly used tactical means. Low- and ultra-low-altitude strikes have now become commonly used tactical means for air forces to avoid detection.

All this requires a high-performance radar that has the following features: it can be quickly disassembled, transported and assembled; It has excellent electrical performances, especially for low and ultra-low altitude target detection; it has good ECCM performance and high reliability, and can be transported by land, sea and air; can be quickly turned on/off.

The YLC-6M radar is a highly mobile, fully solid-state, medium/low altitude surveillance radar developed in the 1990s based on the operational demands of radar forces.

The YLC-6M radar is a fully solid-state, highly mobile, S-band vehicle-borne, 2D, medium/low-altitude surveillance radar. It used solid-state, fully coherent pulse compression and MTI detection techniques. .

The radar is characterized by good performance, such as high mobility, high reliability, high automation, etc. Radar is primarily used for high mobility aerial surveillance and detection of low-altitude/ultra-low-altitude flying targets. It is also used to provide the operational and command system, as well as the aviation force, with numerous synthetic information, such as azimuth, range, enemy/friendly attribution of air targets. The information acquired can be fed into the radar chain in real time. Therefore, it can be used as a highly mobile medium/low altitude gap radar in the airborne intelligence radar chain. It can also be used as a backup radar to replace destroyed radar. Its supplemental tactical role is to provide the airport’s air traffic control system with primary approach control radar information. The radar has high maneuverability and strong ECM capability, as well as higher survivability. The main operating missions are:

has. Suitable for rapid battlefield transfers and emergency mobile operations, to provide theater air situational surveillance to ensure operations and guidance of aviation forces;
b. To detect hostile targets at low/ultra low altitude and prevent sudden attacks at low/ultra low altitude;
against Rapidly improve the deployment of the original radar chain and rapidly complement the original radar chain to increase the provisioning capacity of the local air situation.
d. Play an unexpected role at the beginning of the war due to its mobile deployment capability and parameter armor capability.

The YLC-6M radar is mainly used to detect aerial targets, such as fighters, attackers, bombers, EW aircraft, reconnaissance aircraft, transport aircraft and civil flying aircraft. It has good detection ability for medium/low altitude targets, especially for low/ultra-low altitude targets.
