A woman is comforted by the fact that her man tries to protect her. But does it automatically mean that when a man protects a woman, he actually loves her? Or is there some other hidden agenda behind that chivalrous guy?

Men are made to protect.

Men were created to be the protector of their pack. He’s supposed to be the breadwinner, the hunter, or whatever you want to call him. If he doesn’t try to protect a defenseless woman, then he’s just being a jerk because they were designed to be that way.

He wants you all to himself.

Again, going back to the fact that a man is a territorial being: most men protect the woman they are dating because they want what is theirs to remain theirs. If other men start flirting, you will notice that your man will start behaving strangely. He would probably take you away from the presence of these men.

He’s just being a gentleman.

Sometimes a man is well educated so he is used to being a gentleman. There is really nothing special about the way he treats you because he treats everyone like that.

He’s pretending to be a gentleman.

Or it could be a man who is just trying to get what he wants. This guy will pretend to be a nice guy because he hasn’t taken what he wants from you yet. Beware of this type of man.

He wants everything done his way.

There are also men who want everything to be under control. And then he will try to do everything according to his wish. He will dictate everything he wants done because he always wants to be in charge. This man only protects you because he is too possessive of you.

The experience made him steel himself.

Previous girlfriends of this guy might have been snatched right from under their noses! And now, she’s just trying to hold her own for what’s rightfully hers. I would not let any male species come near you for fear of losing you again.

It is hopelessly insecure.

This guy may feel like he is so lucky to have you in the first place and that he will go to any lengths to protect you from harm or any of his competitors. He may not feel qualified to be your guy, so he’ll always be on his guard. He has so much insecurity in him that all he wants is to protect you from the adoring glances of men.
