Quail hunt

Quail hunting is not a hobby that normally attracts much attention, although it does have a popular following in many parts of America and Europe. Also known as a part of highland hunting, quail hunting involves the use of shotguns to shoot down the bird.

Quails are normally medium-sized birds in the same family as pheasants and are prized by hunters. In a typical situation, dogs are used, either to get the birds out of their thick cover or to retrieve birds that have been hit by pellets. Therefore, quail hunting will involve open space, along with heavy cover. It is the open area where the hunters will wait for the quail to try to escape.

There are several states that actually get a big financial boost from quail hunting, states like South Dakota, as well as many rural areas in the UK. All this, although it generally goes unnoticed and without advertising.

The sport made headlines in 2006 when Dick Cheney, the vice president of the United States, shot a Texas lawyer when they were both hunting quail. In February 2006, Cheney and Harry Whittington were on a ranch in Texas to go on a hunt. A hunting period has already taken place in the highlands as day progressed into night. The group of hunters was looking for a bird that had already been shot down. While the search was being carried out, another bird flew out of its hiding place and Cheney fired. Whittington was hit by a couple hundred buckshot from the shot.

There are many rules to be followed during organized quail hunting, among which it is always the responsibility of the shooter to ensure that it is safe to shoot. Normally, other rules are also strictly followed, such as not drinking alcohol while filming and wearing orange safety gear. However, the most important rule of thumb is to make sure it is safe before shooting. In the Cheney incident, this was obviously not followed up.

Quail hunting may not be to everyone’s liking, but it is a popular hobby for many people. This popularity is especially widespread in America, although there are strong hunting areas in the UK and other areas of Europe as well. Although in these last two areas the anti-hunting lobby has had an impact on the number of people who participate in the hunt.
