Lake Travis is an artificial lake that gets its water from the Colorado River through the Mansfield Dam. Construction of the Mansfield Dam began in 1936. Lake Travis is more than 63 miles long and its maximum width is 4.5 miles. The lake covers about 19,000 acres.
